Position Overview

The Production Planner, creates and maintains a finite production schedule across manufacturing resources according to the master production plan. The Production Planner schedules finite production in accordance with manufacturing performance and inventory plans. The Production Planner is viewed as a cross-functional team member and takes actions necessary to support production and cost savings initiatives, quality/complaint investigations and other supply chain related activities.

Essential Job Duties

  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders and inventory levels. Ensure that production schedule meets customer demand and delivery deadlines.
  • Responsible for the review and updating of the finite production schedule and update production plans
  • Generate and maintain effective daily and weekly schedules
  • Collaborate with inventory control and Master Planner to review and optimize compliance with any supply chain strategies.
  • Responsible for determining the system capacity, as well as driving the production schedule to improve production attainment and schedule adherence.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and delivery plans, work with purchasing to effectively support the production demands.
  • Support key performance indicators and objectives such as on-time delivery, cost and inventory targets 
  • Actively participate in the overall physical inventory process
  • Advocate and champion, the development, deployment, and maintenance of 5S concepts and continuous improvement activities and ensure compliance to all quality and safety rules
  • Follows all cGMP and SOPs as defined by policies, practices and procedures to insure that FDA and ISO regulations and quality standards are met
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field preferred
  • APICS Certification preferred, but not required
  • Deadline driven professional with excellent internal & external customer service skills
  • Experience with Forecasting software
  • Strong Excel skills are required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • 3 years’ experience in production scheduling, ERP/MRP systems in a mulit-line, multi-step manufacturing environment

  • Computer proficient, especially in Excel and ERP systems like NetSuite, Oracle, Sage
  • Detail oriented and analytical minded
  • Strong communication skills
  • Problem solving

This is largely a sedentary role; however, the duties require the use of the hands to type and the ability to communicate, requires the ability to move about, some duties may occasionally require the ability to lift to 10lbs.
